Friday July 19, 2002 Day hike to Cathedral Lake

Doug bombed down back the 7 miles from Vogelsang early in the morning so we could do a 7 mile roundtrip day hike to Cathedral lake - one of Michelle's favorite places since she was 11 years old!

Sierra finally gets to ride in the special Kelty Kid's Carrier backpack.  She fell asleep a couple of times and seemed to enjoy the extra comfort.
Almost there.  Great view of Cathedral Peak in the background.  You can see where the name came from.
Michelle gets some goodies for Sierra out of the pack.
Gorgeous Lake. Gorgeous Michelle and Sierra.
Years ago we camped on the far side of Cathedral lake (by the trees on the right) and were visited by a bear in the early morning.
Sierra gets animated!  Yeah, we MADE IT!
Sierra was playing in the SNOW in the MIDDLE OF JULY at 1:28 PM - the time she was born exactly 2.5 years ago!
Sierra liked throwing snowballs for Grandpa Doug's camera.
Later that day we drove down to Yosemite Valley (and all the "tourists") on the way home.  Picked up a Yosemite T-Shirt for Sierra.

Here is Rory, Sierra and Michelle at the base of the world famous Yosemite Falls, which was surprisingly weak for this time of the year.
