Hiking from the start at Agnew Meadows up to Lake Ediza at 9,300 feet
elevation.
Ashley (18), Grandpa Bob Johnson and Heather (13) with all their
camping gear and ready to hit the trail from Agnew Meadows.
Little Sierra on the
trail. She did maybe 2 miles on her own and THEN had to be
carried most of the rest of 7 miles UP to Lake Ediza.
Our long term
backpacking friends, Jim and Mary Ann Gaebe from Northern
California are entering the official Ansel Adams Wilderness area.
Rory, Sierra,
Michelle and Doug.
Heading towards the switchbacks and
the long uphill climb. Sierra in one of her spurts of energy!
Michelle near the
end of the switch backs. The spillover falls come from
Shadow Lake - our lunch and rest stop.
Jim and May Ann at
Shadow Lake
Bob, Ashley and
Heather
Rory, Sierra and
Michelle.
A better view of the
lake and surrounding scenery.
FINALLY - several
hours later!
On the last section of the trail to the beautiful Lake Ediza.
A spectacular setting at the base of the Minarets Mountain Range.
Next problem - the
camp site is up in the trees to the right. We have to first
figure out how to cross the streams feeding into Ediza first.
Ashley wants to
do it the fast way and just wade across.
We made it!
After a half hour of looking for
easy routes across, we decided to give up, remove the boots, roll
up our pant legs and wade across. No one slipped and got
wet.
Once we crossed a
couple of streams and got the tents set up it was time to play.
This stream is where we refilled our canteens. O think
Ashley is contemplating how to get across the rest of the way?
Heather and Ashley jumped the rapids and climbed to the big rock
on the other side of our campsite..
A big zoom in to see
the girls up close up on the same rock.
