The
Flo-Jo memorial two day event featured an assortment of races.
On Sunday may 26th they held the Diaper Dash for kids up to
3 years old. They would line up 6 at a time and run 75 feet.
More cameras for this event than anything else out there! |

Sierra - are you ready to RACE? |
 |
Here
is Sierra after the race with her medal.
Every kid got a
medal and a coupon for a meal at Ruby's restaurant! Some of the
little ones were just learning to walk and had to hold their
parents hand for the whole distance. Very cute. |

Was
that fun? |

Monday May 27th (Memorial Day) was the BIG event. A
13.1 mile Half Marathon that Michelle and I both entered.
Lots of up and down hills. Nothing more than a few hundred feet,
but it sure gets to you after a while - whew! |
 |
Michelle came in 6th out of 130 woman in her 30 to 35 age bracket!
The top 4%. Awesome! Her time was 1:42:16. This
is a 7 minutes 49 seconds per mile pace!
She was 42nd out
of 689 women runners (top 6%) and was 198th overall out of 1384
men and woman finishers (top 14%). |

Doug came in 5th
out of 21 men running in the 60 to 65 age bracket which got him on
the online top 5 winner's in each age category results list. His
time was 1:56:18 - an average pace of 8 minutes 52 seconds
per mile. He was number
367 out of 695 men (53%) and 515 out of 1384 finishers (37.2%).
At his age of 63 his calculated max heart rate is 157. His
heart monitor showed he was above that for the last 45 minutes.
Speeding it up for the last half mile he got it up to 174 (the max
heart rate of the "average" 46 year old). No big deal.
(As in the Diaper dash -
everyone got a finisher's medal. However, Sierra's medal was
much BIGGER than ours!) |
