Feb 16, 2002 Half Marathon (13.5 mile)
Winter Trail Running Series Race
What a great location to do a run! This is the main divide area in the Cleveland National Forest where the trail run events are held.
Today's event is 13.5 miles long with 2,700 feet of ascents!
Stole this photo of me coming up to the aid station from the RND Running web site. Randy and Vicki Davis put on the Winter Trail Running Series. I have been helping them expand their results spreadsheet. More data in a better, more useful format. This is their photo of the aid station at the top of the first long uphill. It is also our water/Gator Aid refill source on the way back.
All the results can be seen at the RND Running web site.
Michelle surprised herself and got third place in the women's division with a time of 2:17:22. She was stoked! She never ran this far of a distance before - even on a flat course, let alone all the evil (though lovely and scenic) long hills. Michelle beat me by almost a half hour and this was my best time ever for their half Marathon. My time of 2:43:20 beat my year 2000 previous best time of 2:43:48 by 28 seconds! I came in 51st out of 59 runners. Love beating a few of those young uns!
Mom and Sierra with her plaque. RND Running also puts on a raffle after each event. Michelle won the top prize - a $75 massage! I won too - a pair of socks.....
