28th Annual Dana Point Turkey Trot 10k
Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Nov. 24, 2005
Dad and Michelle run it again!

Dad picked me up at 5:50AM.  It's just a short ten minute drive down the coast to the Dana Point Harbor. 9,000 people participated in the events this year. The Turkey Trot is always a great way to start the Holiday! The weather was perfect for running. We saw lots of close friends including hundred mile Ultra Runners - Allen Bursey and Robert Baird. Even Michelle's daughter Sierra's Kindergarten teacher was there.

Michelle finished the 10k (6.2 miles) in 45:29 averaging 7.3 minute miles, and Dad Doug finished in 55:35 averaging 8.9 min/mile. After the race we had breakfast with my Dad's friends Gene Langworthy from Bend, Oregon and his son-in-law, triathlete & online personal fitness trainer, Phil Garcia. Afterwards, Michelle ran another 6 miles on her trails and went swimming laps for 45 minutes.

The Laguna Beach High School Cross Country team that Michelle coaches for is competing in the State Championships this Saturday in Fresno. Michelle & daughter Sierra leave on the team bus Friday morning. The team is very excited in hopes of placing in the top ten!

Michelle is pumped for the race!

The Pacific Ocean was calm as as the runners were stirring.

Michelle will be onboard the Catalina Express in January to celebrate her Birthday by running the Avalon 50 miler.

The only way to travel to a race besides in a JetPak. sneak peak (coming soon!!)

Dad is ready to ROCK the TROT!

Here comes Michelle, spotted running on the roads again.

Michelle has enough left in the tank to blast the finish.

Is this more fun than running the Western States trails? No way baby!

Woo-hoo!! Here comes Grandpa Doug!

Dad is looking really good as he whizzes by!

Dad's 13 mile easy training run from Irvine to Laguna last Sunday paid off.

Dad is in good form as he approaches the finish!

Jim and Michelle - the Winter Trail Running Series buddies. Jim was happy to beat Michelle's time today, but then found out that she ran 70 miles in 12 hours the week before. Jim decides he will stick to the roads.

Gene and Doug - the longtime marathon buddies. Gene is trying to persuade Doug to move to Bend, Oregon - super trail runner country.
