Trip to Connecticut and Flight to Naples, Florida (page 3)
Sunday morning
January 26th.
The reason we
flew down to Naples!
Start of the
Naples Half Marathon - 13.1 miles.
Dr. Len is a blur
of 7 minute per mile speed for the Naples Half Marathon as he
passes Doug's house on Gordon Drive. Doug S. and Doug M.
didn't get their pictures taken as Karen was taking video at that
time.
here is Len in the
final stretch!
The finish!
Len got
5th place
in his 50-54 age group with a time of 1:32:03 - a 7:02 minutes
per mile pace.
Doug Schumann
strides along.
Doug Schumann
finished in 1:50:09 - an 8:25 minutes per mile pace - 36th in the
55-59 age group.
And here comes Doug
Malewicki.
Doug Malewicki
finished in 2:02:57 - a 9:24 minutes per mile pace - 36th in the
60-64 age group.
The Naples half
marathon T-Shirt.
Official medal
awarded to all finishers.
After the race we
see Doug in his kilt struggling up the stairs. Very tender
quads. Doug did no training prior to the half marathon
because in October he broke his foot and hurt his back in an
accident. He initially figured he would do the run to his
home - some 3 miles and stop there. He felt so good he just
went for the entire 13.1 mile distance!

Doug S. soaking away the leg muscle stiffness in the hot tub!
Aahhhh. Sure feels
good.
Crazy Doug dove into
the unheated 60 degree swimming pool!
Doug M. would only
go down in as far as his knees in the 60 degree pool.
Attention!
Alert! Jane spotted a dolphin right in the canal of Doug's
back yard. Everyone to the dock.
There he is (circled
in red)!
And he comes up
again. We all got to watch the dolphins meanderings for a
good 10 minutes.
