Mel and Rebecca Weinberg
were in Chicago visiting both of their kids, who live here. Their
son, Nathan, works for ATT is single. His sister Naomi is married with
two young kids and lives in Brookfield. We usually get together with Mel
and Rebecca for lunch/brunch, but more often for dinner’ sometimes their
family joins us.
This time we
had dinner at a nice little French Bistro on East Chestnut called “Le
Petit Paris.” Two of the shots are in the restaurant and three are
outside, just down the street in front of a cool sculpture.
Mel is a
nearly completely retired physician who specialized in infectious diseases
in Tucson, where they’ve lived for many years. Rebecca is also a “nearly
retired” family therapist. They both look great and we have a really nice
time seeing them every year or so. |

Jerry and
Beth Brodkin were in town for some family events, a bat
mitzvah, a family reunion and to see us and the Rosenstons (two
days later – Rosenston is recuperating from foot surgery and is
limited in his travels for a while.) We had lots of nice
conversation with Beth and Jerry. |

Dinner with Ro (Rowie
Schar) Lebedow and her partner of 20+ years, Curt Snodgrass.
Ro and I talk and see each other for lunch from time to time. She
and Curt have a place in Harbert, MI, and live in the city in a
great condo in the Bucktown neighborhood – there’s a fab view of
the downtown skyline, looking SE from their deck. The night we
were there for dinner, it was very overcast and rainy, so my
skyline pics are not too cool. Ro has been in the real estate
business for 20+ years, selling mostly condos in the downtown
area.
Late last Fall, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer and has
spent much of the past year dealing with it. Surgery, chemo,
radiation, being enrolled in a clinical trial, with a new
biological, at the U. of Chicago—the whole nine yards. But, most
wonderfully, she has responded to the treatments extremely well,
and right now shows no signs of abnormal cells or tumors that can
be detected. She is off chemo but is still on the biological.
Her hair is growing back (it’s not even ¼” yet), and she looks,
acts, and sounds great. She is planning on being at our 55th
next May 6th. |
