Mini SSHS57 Reunion Lunch at Smith & Wollensky's in Chicago

Five SSHS 1957 alumni met at Smith & Wollensky's right next to the Chicago River. Doug Malewicki was out from California for his Mom's 86th Birthday.  The weather was spectacular for a November in Chicago.  Doug and his old Stanford roommate, Wayne Madsen PhD, bicycled from the near North side along Lake Shore Drive and didn't even have to wear jackets!   Wayne Madsen has attended so many of these SSHS57 Mini's since October 2001 that Al Telser suggested to Doug that we should induct him as an honorary SSHS57 alumnus.  No sooner suggested than DONE!  Next is Tugie who attends many Southern California SSHS57 mini's. Dave Apter missed this mini because we held it right in the midst of his back operations.  Best wishes for a speedy, healthy recovery.  Jerry Levine, whom is one of our youngest SSHS57 graduates, finally reached his 65th Birthday the next day - on November 6th.  Congratulations youngster - wish you could have joined us.

Al Telser, Northwestern Professor of Cell & Molecular Biology and lawyer Jerry Penner.	Jerry Penner is General Counsel for the World Series Champion White Sox!  Jerry's law firm represents White Sox majority shareholder, Jerry Reinsdorf, in all his business interests - Da Bulls, real estate, etc..	Wayne & Helen	Rich Washer retired last month and is enjoying it.  His wrecked wrist from a bicycling accident a year ago is healed and 95% as good as new.

Doug congratulates Wayne on his induction as an honorary alumnus of the ultra cosmic super elite class of 1957!		It was all Al's idea!  Was a lot of fun!	The funniest tidbit Al told me was that Jerry Penner didn't know about this ahead of time at all.  Jerry  made a little side comment to Al during lunch that Wayne has come to so many of our Chicago Mini's that he was seeming to remember Wayne being in some of their English classes!
50th Reunion?  Doug informed this S&W group that if a 50th is not planned in the Chicago area they can fly out to Southern California and join us.  We are already planning to have a reunion anyway in the spring or summer of 2007.  All SSHS 1957 alumni are invited.  Al Telser, who has a daughter Katie living in LA, said he would come out as did "new" alumnus Wayne Madsen.  It will be a dinner only.  Nobody in laid back California is inclined to take on all the work and put in all the time that Dottie, Ina May & their committee did for our wonderful 45th.
