We
put this mini-reunion together BECAUSE Allen and Karey
Rosenston were out visiting in California after a stay in
Scottsdale, Arizona. |
 |
Fay & Dennis
Flanzer came from
Rolling Hills
Estates. |
 |
Prior to the get
together, Maxine Emailed Denny this 1956 era picture of him from
her ancient archives! |
 |
Doug & Karen
Malewicki came from Irvine.
Doug did not forget
a promised thank you toast to Dottie Gordon Benjamin and Ina May
Flink - the hard working organizers of the 45th reunion! |
 |
Sara & Craig
Zaremberg (Peal) came with Mark Geller from Anaheim Hills in
Orange County. |
 |
Roberta Tugenberg
with Ron and Maxine Young (Mazursky).
Nicer pictures of
our guests of honor, Roberta and currently missing Robert
Tugenberg will be coming once Allen gets back to Chicago.
Sara took a bunch too. |
 |
Jerry and Beth
Brodkin came from nearby Escondido.
Dr. Jerry brought
his new 380Z sports car and let Doug drive it after dinner.
Doug's blasting down the skinny streets at full throttle in the
dark probably took a year off Jerry's life! Zoom!
Zoom! |
 |
Mark Geller.
Turns out that
Doug and Mark worked at a couple of the same giant engineering
companies back in the 60's and 70's. North American Space
and Information Systems on the Apollo man to the moon
project and at Douglas Aircraft (both of which are now Boeing
divisions). |
 |
Maxine Young
(Mazursky) has a very appropriate last name! |
 |
Allen Rosenston
brings out the check. I took 3 shots - he was supposed
to be grimacing, not smiling! |
 |
February 20th
Morning. The zoomed in view from Doug & Karen Malewicki's
condo room in Oceanside. Windy and clear out there. |
 |
Karen Malewicki
enjoying our beach walk to breakfast. |
 |
Teeny bird tracks
all over the sand. Great opportunity for a romantic sand
scribble! |
 |
About half way out
to Ruby's restaurant (located at the very end of Oceanside pier).
A 340 degree ocean view!
At 1,740 feet
long, the Oceanside pier is the longest wooden pier on the
California Coast. |
 |
Karen and friend on
the Oceanside pier! |
 |
Surf's up.
Allen - are you
and Karey really going back to Chicago on Friday? |
 |
Doug's 50 mile bike
ride home from Oceanside became a 32 mile ride from San Clemente,
because the Camp Pendleton Marine Base segment was recently closed
to civilians due to the Iraq thing. Last time that happened
was during the Gulf War. When the base route is closed to
cyclists, the CHP allows you to bike on the freeway. Karen
didn't care for me doing that, so dropped me off in San Clemente,
a bit past the Dolly Parton National Monument (the San Onofre
Nuclear power plant). |

Off we go. |
